Oxford Society
Of Ageing And Longevity
We are a student-led initiative at Oxford wanting to inspire, discuss and share the latest developments on ageing and longevity.

A Cure for Ageing?
We treat cancer, visual impairment, heart disease and other ailments individually. The list is vast and extensive. But what if we could treat the root cause of nearly all disease? What if we could cure aging itself?
It’s not as crazy (or scary) as you might think!

The Possible Risks
Man vs. Machine
The first human to live for 1,000 years may have already been born.
Ben Goertzel, founder and CEO of artificial intelligence firm SingularityNET, sees a large-scale shift over the coming years as super-advanced machines predict how different drugs will interact with the body. Let’s take mental illness for example. Right now, treating mental illness is largely guessing. Which medication will work well with which person. But in the future, designer medication will be available to you that will work perfectly, thanks to the ability to map your own genome.

Seem far fetched?
We know, we know… It all sounds crazy. But for the first time in human history we’re at a convergent point of AI, Machine Learning, CRISPR, Epigenetics, Gene Therapy, Quantum Computing and a whole slew of other new areas of growth in the coming decade.
