SUMMARY:Learning Longevity: Academic & Career Opportunities in Longevity Science
DESCRIPTION:ONLINE – Monday\, Nov 6th: 7:00 pm UK / 2:00 pm NY /11:00 am PT \nThe Oxford Society of Aging and Longevity\, in collaboration with the Harvard Aging Club\, is excited to present a must-attend online talk featuring the SENS Research Foundation\, a vanguard in aging and longevity research. This event is open to all and promises to be a significant gateway for those interested in the dynamic field of longevity science. \nEvent Description: “Learning Longevity: Academic and Career Opportunities in Longevity Science” will provide an in-depth look into the evolving landscape of longevity research. Highlights of the talk include: \n\nInsights into the current and future state of longevity science.\nExploration of academic and professional paths in the field of aging and longevity.\nAn overview of SENS Research Foundation’s academic programs nurturing future scientists.\nThe synergy of cutting-edge research\, student mentorship\, and career development in the longevity sector.\nThis session is a unique chance for those aiming for a career in longevity research\, curious about academic opportunities in this field\, or simply fascinated by the science of anti-aging.\n\nSpeaker Bio: Our esteemed speaker\, Lilli Fishman is the Director of Academic Affairs at SENS Research Foundation (SRF). At SRF Lilli is responsible for recruiting\, selecting\, placing\, and mentoring students for SRF’s academic programs\, including Summer\, Postbaccalaureate\, Graduate Internship\, Master’s\, and PhD programs. After students are selected\, Lilli works with her team to plan curriculum and host regular meetings to develop student’s soft skills\, with a special focus on helping students achieve their career goals and improve their scientific communication. Lilli is a research scientist by training. She earned her PhD in cellular and molecular biology from the University of Toledo where she led an international team of scientists to discover a unique sub-cellular structure that is critical in fertilization and development in human and cattle sperm. After that\, she went on to become a USDA NIFA Fellow during her postdoctoral studies at the University of California\, Davis\, where she investigated the activation of the embryonic genome to eventually improve development rates in clinical and agricultural embryology settings. Lilli is passionate about solving life’s biggest problems: how we are born\, and how we age – when combined with her drive to build equitable representation in advanced training opportunities\, her goal is to to inspire and empower the next generation of pioneers in the field of anti-aging \nAbout SENS Research Foundation: Leading the charge against age-related disease\, the SENS Research Foundation is dedicated to developing therapies to cure and prevent the ailments of aging. Their innovative approach is reshaping the way age-related diseases are researched and treated\, inspiring a new generation of biomedical scientists in the process. \nAbout Harvard Aging Club: The Harvard Chan Student Aging Club is a student-run organization that aims to offer students a unique platform that blends the latest insights on aging-related topics with diverse perspectives from distinguished researchers\, clinicians\, entrepreneurs\, and other professionals involved in the field. We are dedicated to fostering a vibrant community that brings together students who share an interest in the field of aging and helps them connect with impactful leaders whose work contributes to improving the lives of older adults. \nJoin Us: Don’t miss this exclusive opportunity to interact with a leading expert in longevity science.
